Movy ta kul′tury pid čas vijny: Kolektyvna monohrafija = Languages and cultures in times of war: Collective monograph

The monograph includes papers presented at the International Conference Languages and Cultures in Times of War: (Im)possible, (Re)imagined, (Un)manageable, held at SSEES UCL, London, on 2–3 May 2024. The monograph covers a range of issues related to linguistic and cultural transformation due to the war, with language(s) being represented in almost all studies either as an object of research or as a tool. Through specific markers of sociolinguistic and sociocultural parameters, the authors analyse a number of painful and sometimes uncomfortable questions in contemporary Ukraine. Therefore, it serves as a kind of scientific screening of the cultural and linguistic state of society – interpersonal relationships, facts of language behaviour, discursive practices, the state of the language system, political events, etc. The monograph will be useful to a wide range of readers – linguists, sociologists, political scientists, cultural studies scholars, and specialists in language planning and public administration. Its sections can be used in the educational process for training specialists at all levels of higher education.
